PROJECT 14 - BUILDING AND PARTIAL RADIO SYSTEM Campaign Statement: Construction of additional space for police operations, and the purchase of an 800 MHz radio system to provide effective communication between police, fire, EMS, corrections, public works, and other emergency services. Original Project Budget: $ 6,851,290 Additional SPLOST Revenues Allocated: $ 1,256,000 (Amendment 1 - June 15, 1999) & $312,737 (Amendment 2 - April 4, 2000) Additional Funding: Revised Project Budget: $8,420,027 Operating Budget Impact: $33,825.00/Year PROJECT DESCRIPTION: This project is comprised of a County-wide 800 MHz trunked radio system and an expansion to the existing police administration and operations building. The radio system will consist of three radio tower sites, a communications center, mobile and portable radios, microwave equipment, standby generators, simulcast control equipment, and repeater interface units. Although the initial subscriber unit purchase will only include the Police Department, all public safety subscriber units (Fire, Police & Sheriff Departments) are the top priority for purchase in Set 1. The scope of the Police Building Expansion will include 4,300 square feet of expansion space, and 1,300 square feet of existing renovated space. Property acquisition is not included in this project.
