PROJECT III-40: Lyndon House Arts Center Improvements

Referendum Statement: This project consists of the completion of wood floor installation in the Annex, restoration of hand painted murals and other necessary work in the historic Ware-Lyndon House, and landscape improvements and outdoor lighting.

PROJECT CONCEPT:

  • Flooring: This project is envisioned to include purchase and installation of wood flooring in the public hallways and lounge on the LHAC Annex’s first floor, and the south and west galleries of the LHAC Annex’s second floor. The flooring is proposed to match the existing wood flooring already installed in the main atrium.
  • Mural Restoration: This project is envisioned to include restoration of the existing hand painted murals in the Ware-Lyndon House Patrons Room. The restoration is proposed to include repairing the historic plaster, painting areas destroyed or missing, and cleaning areas in good condition.
  • Porch Decking: The front porch of the historic Ware-Lyndon House is envisioned to be replaced with historically accurate painted 1 inch by 6 inch tongue and groove flooring.
  • Landscaping: The Lyndon House Arts Center grounds is envisioned to be redeveloped to include additional period landscaping and hardscaping for the areas surrounding the historic Ware-Lyndon House. This is proposed to include the development of a kitchen garden, painters garden and construction of a brick lined walk leading from the entrance of the house to the Annex. It also proposes to include additional landscaping in the northern festival ground adjacent to the Annex and other landscaping items as the budget will allow.
